Trinitario

The large group of Trinitarios contains most of the fine or flavour cocoas. The Trinitarios are the most important large group of cocoa besides the Criollos and the Forasteros.

All Trinitarios have been created in the region around Trinidad from a cross between Criollos and Forasteros. The offspring were selected for being robust and aromatic and were further bred.

Today, only newer Trinitarios can be found in almost all fine flavour cocoa growing areas. With different characteristics depending on the region. With very, very few exceptions, they are all fine flavour cocoas.
